Starting today, players around the world will be able to traverse ‘The Dark Portal’ once again in the authentic ‘Blizzard Entertainment’ recreation of the first highly acclaimed expansion for ‘World of Warcraft.
Access to ‘Burning Crusade Classic’ is included with all ‘World of Warcraft subscriptions.
IRVINE, Calif. June 1, 2021, The Dark Portal has reopened, and a timeless era of adventure looms on the other side. Starting today, World of Warcraft players will re-discover the wonderful landscapes and mythical challenges that await in the shattered kingdom of Outland with the worldwide launch of Burning Crusade Classic, Blizzard Entertainment’s authentic recreation of the first Legendary expansion. from World of Warcraft.
In Burning Crusade Classic, the heroes of the Horde and the Alliance set out on an excursion to Draenor, the alien planet ravaged by vile forces where the demonic Burning Legion wage war against all living things on Azeroth. Together with their new blood elf and draenei allies, the champions of Azeroth must find a way to stop the invasion from its very origin, search for new allies in the fungal forests and abyssal skies of a strange new world, and prepare to face the infernal forces of Illidan, the Traitor: the disloyal night elf and demon hunter who seized the domain of Outland.
Today’s launch of Burning Crusade Classic represents the first opportunity in more than a decade for the WoW community to share the excitement of crossing the Dark Portal, entering the arena together, and defeating the final boss of Karazhan, for the first time as a brotherhood, says J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. These shared experiences are the very essence of World of Warcraft, and we can’t wait to see all the new adventures that players will have with their friends, old and new, as they return to Outland.
Like World of Warcraft Classic, Burning Crusade Classic is included with World of Warcraft subscriptions and grants access to content and features from the original 2007 release, as you can see below:
Shattered Kingdom of Outland: Explore the treacherous crags and rocky peaks of the Blade’s Edge Mountains, where even dragons fear to prowl. Hunt alongside the uncorrupted Mag’har orcs on the floating islands of Nagrand. Fight demonic agents of the Legion in the shadows of the Black Temple. And this is just the beginning.
Two new races to play: Fight for the Horde as one of the blood elves seeking a new source of the arcane power that was once their sustenance, or join the Alliance as one of the Draenei, exiles from Outland seeking a new home.
Gather at the Arena Gates: Gather your best allies and put your PvP skills to the test in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 clashes in arenas such as the Ring of Trials and the Ring of Blood (available June 15).
Soar to the Skies with Flying Mounts: Soar into the chaotic skies of Netherstorm and soar through Shadowmoon Valley with the new Flying Mounts of Outland.
Master Challenging Dungeons and Raids: Conquer 5-player dungeons in the crystalline fort of Tempest Keep and Caverns of Time, where heroes can see Azeroth’s past and fight in epic 10- and 25-player raids.
New options for heroes: You can carve powerful gems to socket your team with the jewelry profession, choose between the factions of the Aldor or the Scryers in Shattrath to obtain their unique rewards, create a paladin in the Horde or a shaman in the Alliance, and much more.
With today’s launch, players will be able to advance their characters to level 70 in the realms of Burning Crusade Classic as they explore all the new areas of Outland beyond the Dark Portal, and also rally their allies to battle in challenging ones. Raids of 10 players in Karazhan, 25 players in Magtheridon’s Lair, and 25 players in Gruul’s Lair. Starting June 15, players will be able to test their skills in PvP with the opening of the first season of the arena. More Burning Crusade Classic content will be added in upcoming updates.
Following the start of the first arena season in-game, the best PvP teams will have the opportunity to return to the roots of WoW esports at the Burning Crusade Classic Arena Tournament that will take place between the 23rd and July 25. All details of the tournament and how to participate will be announced in the coming weeks.
