Once upon a time, there was a vampire known as Vanitas, hated by his own species for being born under a blue full moon since most are born on the night of a red moon. Fearful and alone, he created the “Book of Vanitas”, a cursed grimoire that would one day take revenge on all vampires; that is at least the story.
Vanitas no Carte follows Noah, a young man who travels aboard an aircraft in 19th century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden attack by vampires leads him to meet the enigmatic Vanitas, a doctor who specializes in vampires and, to Noah’s surprise, a completely ordinary human. The mysterious doctor inherited the name and the infamous text of the legend’s Vanitas, using the grimoire to heal his patients. But behind his gentle demeanor, he hides something a little more sinister …
Mochizuki started publishing the manga through Gang En Joker magazine from Square Enix in December 2015.
The animation will be by the Bonds studio. Tomoyuki Itamura is the director, Deko Akao composes the series and Yoshiyuki Ito is the director of design and animation of the characters.
