Recently, France was seen protesting over the death of a school teacher named Paty who was beheaded by one of his students. After this, the police had to shoot the boy as he denied to surrender. President Macron addressed the issue saying that freedom of speech is for everyone and no legal action will be taken against people expressing themselves. This led to the middle eastern countries boycotting France’s products stating that they promote Islamophobia and hate speech against Muslims. The President’s defensive attitude has annoyed and offended many Muslims.
On Thursday, a young man entered a French church and killed three people. He was carrying a Quran and the killing was revenge for mocking their religion. The cops shot the suspect and he was severely injured. He was then hospitalized and people in France are protesting. This is about the extremist Muslims who have adopted violence. This has raised questions about religious tolerance in the country. Many Muslims have stated that even Islam believes in freedom of expression but purposely trying to mock a religion is provocative. Many are angry about the President’s statements regarding secularism.
Islam is a religion of peace and has no place for terrorism; we must not generalize terrorism & link it to Islam. We condemn insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Macron should step back from his words and apologize to the Muslims as soon as possible! #we_love_mohammad_صلى

10. Generally, the west no longer adhere to their own religion. They are Christians in name only. That is their right. But they must not show disrespect for the values of others, for the religion of others. It is a measure of the level of their civilisation to show this respect.

Why Is the tension between France and Islam increasing?
Macron’s controversial speech on not giving up cartoon is the cause of this. Recently, he said that Islam is now a religion causing several issues and crises all over the world. Their belief in Jihad and destruction is trouble for others everywhere. France has a population of around 5 million Muslims. Macron said that religion is very conservative and they are not ready to adapt any changes for social and economic welfare. The community is trying to stay separate and wanting to take control of activities around. They are expecting others to take on the values they believe in trying to form a different group of society that does not support France’s rights to expression or speech. The gap between Muslims and France seems to keep on widening.
This has been the case since 2005. In fact, France believes that they have failed to explain the concept of secularism to them. Numerous violent incidents have taken place due to caricatures drawn by many cartoonists. Countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and more are also protesting against France. Macron has increased security near places such as educational institutions and religious places. On 28th October, Charlie Hebdo also published the cartoon of Erdogan. He was indicating that middle eastern countries are trying to spread hatred and cultural racism. Many Muslims in France are also threatening the citizens by pulling out guns. On Thursday, a man attacked a French consulate in Saudi Arabia. The police arrested the man for injuring the guard. We don’t know what might happen but religious rights are not an uncommon phenomenon.
