What is the movie about?
The plot of the movie revolves around Abby Holland and Harper Caldwell who are dating each other. The lesbian couple has not revealed their relationship to anyone. During the Christmas holidays, Harper invites Abby to her place. Abby does not enjoy Christmas or the holidays as her parents passed away during that time. However, she comes up with a complete plan on proposing Harper but Harper reveals that she has not revealed her sexuality to her parents. Her father is trying to get into politics by standing for the position of Mayor and Harper’s sexuality can create chaos. Abby starts feeling uncomfortable after reaching her place as she meets Harper’s exes. She feels that she does not know anything about her girlfriend after which she starts questioning their relationship. They start spending time with each other and get to know many secrets about each other. The movie ends on a happy note with all celebrating the festival together.
Everything you need to know about “Happiest Season”:
The movie stars Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy, Mary Holland, Victor Garber, Mary Steenburgen. The characters in the movie are quite simple and the story is lowkey. This is not the kind of project many expect from Kristen Stewart as she has given many fabulous movies in the past but it’s worth a try. In 2003 “Love Actually” was released by Richard Curtis. He mentioned that he has to cut down an LGBTQ+ plot. He was afraid that it can cause trouble which is why a gay movie plot on Christmas has been pending. Although the movie can be slightly loose at some points, the major plot of the movie is to make the audience aware of this.

Homophobia is a concept that is seen everywhere in the world. Not many accept the relationship between the same genders which is why it is also illegal in many countries. Many feel their social acceptance and status are threatened due to this which is also a part portrayed in the movie. Sony Pictures is looking after its international distribution. You can strea0m the movie on Hulu. It was originally planned to release on 20th November in theatres but due to the pandemic, Hulu got the deal.
