India has banned numerous applications that had a link with China in any way. The reason behind this was the political tensions going on between both countries. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, more popularly known as PUBG had more than 50 million users in India and ranked number 1 in the stores before the ban. The South Korean developer BlueHole owns the game but Tencent Games from China is the second-largest stakeholder of the game owning around 10% stakes. After the ban, the PUBG Corporation announced that it will be developing and launching a completely new application for the Indian consumers which will be completely different from the global version of the game. Lately, they announced a new website for India and also released the first teaser for the game. PUBG Mobile personalities Jonathan, Kronten, and Dynamo will also be featuring in the game.

How will PUBG Mobile India be different from PUBG Mobile?
Previous players and users of the game will be able to access in-app purchases like the global version. Many users were worried as they had invested a lot of money in the game. However, it seems like there is a positive sign. The players will be able to retract every aspect including their IDs from the previous application. They will be able to transfer all of their purchases as well. On Thursday, they announced that they will be re-entering the Indian market. In fact, they have already hired over 100+ employees for the development and operations of the game.
The developers have also said that they are giving special attention to the data and security. The reason behind this is that it was the major concern of the government and the reason for its ban. Verifications and regular auditing of the data will be done to make sure there is no misuse. They also said that they will be customizing the game according to the local needs. The development team has also planned game time restrictions to promote healthy gaming for everyone. They do not want the users to get addicted to it. This decision was made as the game had a major market in India. Also, Tencent no longer has the authorization regarding any activity.
When will the developers be launching the new version?
They are also investing more than $100 million in the Indian gaming market, the IT industry, and more. There has been no official announcement regarding the release date of the game. The teaser only shows coming soon but we can expect it by early 2021. The Government banned many applications a few weeks back. They stated that the apps were engaged in “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India”. They are hoping for new users to also join PUBG Mobile India. This news also comes as a blessing for e-sport players and streamers who were worried about the game not returning.
