James Bond Legend Sean Connery Passes Away At 90

James Bond legend and Academy Award winner Sean Connery has passed away at 90.

Sean Connery, who charmed the audience with his personality and won an Academy Award for his acting passed away in his sleep. It was a natural death and he died at the age of 90. He will always be remembered as the first actor to ever play the role of James Bond. The film production unit stated that he will always be remembered and his work has proven his ability as an actor over three decades. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the producers of the series said that they were devastated after hearing the news. He is one of the most important people who are responsible for the success of the film. His charismatic acting got everyone’s interest and they are forever grateful to him.

Who is Sean Connery?

Early Life:

Born on 25th August, 1930 Thomas Sean Connery was born to a poor family and was raised in slums. His mother used to clean others’ houses for a living and his father was a lorry driver and a factory worker. Before getting into acting, he used to work as a coffin polisher, lifeguard, and even used to sell milk.

In 1962, he married Diane Cilento but later got separated as Cilento claimed that he used to abuse her physically and mentally. In 1975, he then married Micheline Roquebrune, a French painter. He has one son named Jason Connery who is also an actor in Britain.

Professional Life:

At the age of 18, his love of bodybuilding helped him to get into acting. He was trained by Ellington, who used to train the British Army. Connery went on to participate in competitions but he used to get beaten by American bodybuilders due to muscle size. In 1951, he started working in theatres helping with backstage activities after quitting athletics. He started getting smaller roles and used to gain the attraction of many. After doing numerous small parts, he started getting roles in movies. They wanted people with heavy build and Connery’s body helped him to get these roles. He did various movies such as ‘Another Time, Another Place’, ‘Darby O’Gill and the Little People’ and more.

In 1962, after playing the character of James Bond, he rose to fame. His popularity increased worldwide and his career took off. He landed major roles and worked as leads on films such as ‘From Russia with Love’, ‘Never Say Never Again’, ‘Thunderball’ and more. American Film Institute said that Connery is the third greatest hero in the history of cinema. In 1987, ‘The Untouchables’ happened. For this, he received his first-ever Academy Award. In 2007, he announced his retirement from acting and received a lifetime achievement award. Voted by People’s magazine as the sexiest man of the century, the Legend is no more.
