Marvel is back again with another new series displaying powerful heroes and their stories. This time it is She-Hulk – Attorney At Law; the first episode was released on August 18, 2022, at Disney Plus. We are sure that all the Marvel fans must be eager to know if the creators have stood up to their standards or not in this series. Don’t worry; we are here to help you.
She-Hulk is definitely not a character we’d all expect to bring out a whole new story as a TV show. Furthermore, the trailer of the series has left the viewers in the dilemma of whether it is worth watching or not, and now that the first episode has been released, we might get a little clarification. Before getting into the real story, we need to know how She-Hulk came into existence, and our guess is this is what episode one is about. Stick to the article to know what happens and whether it is worth your time or not.
What Is Episode One All About
The episode starts with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) preparing for a crucial court case with her paralegal cum friend Nikki. On their way, Nikki tells Jennifer to “hulk out” if she loses this case. This was a remark to Jenn and her cousin Hulk, Bruce Banner. The episode then turns back to a few months when Jenn and Bruce (human version) were on a road trip; while chatting about Captain America, they get distracted and are hit by a Sakaaran ship. We then see Jenn saving her brother, and while she was on it, she got a cut on her arm. At this moment, Jenn’s blood mixed with that of Bruce’s from his wound, and there she was, our she Hulk, transformed, green and tall.
Jenn wakes up at a beach house in Mexico, where Bruce took her after rescuing her from the men harassing her. The cousin explains to Jenn that she needs to control her powerful form, and he will stick by her side unless he is completely sure that there is no alter ego and only powers. Reluctant Jenn agrees to let him train her but is worried if she will ever be able to go back to her human form. Now began her training period, which she obviously didn’t take seriously at the beginning. Jenn mocked Bruce when she was able to do everything that took Hulk years to learn. They then head out to have some drinks and eventually get into a fight. Jenn decides to get back to her normal life.
An Entertaining Ending
As we walk towards the end of the show, Jenn stands up to deliver her closing statement, and as Marvel would have it, a supervillain, Titania, enters the courtroom smashing its walls. This had to make Jenn transform and be the hero. After saving the day, she returns to her human form and tells the judge that she is ready to give her statement.
Episode Review
Well, no doubt, the story was all over the place, which messed up the episode. But overall, it had quirkiness and cheesiness simultaneously, which made us stick to the end. As witty as her character is, Jennifer and her brother depict the natural relationship of the brother-sister bond to which many viewers can relate. Had it been the story of this cousin duo fighting the villains, it would have been a great treat to eyes and ears; however, we cannot expect this little in the upcoming episodes.
Another not-so-good part about the show was representing Jenn with little but no flaws and Hulk with disappointing characteristics like being unable to stop a jeep. We can only hope that the next episodes do not undermine Hulk and that our she-hulk gets a little respect for the powers she has gained. If the makers manage to keep the fun alive, there is no confusion that it will be a great success.
