Casey Bloys, the President of HBO has announced that the American teen drama ‘Euphoria’ will be returning with the season 2. The filming is planned to begin in 2021. The show was originally scheduled to begin its filming in March this year. However, it was shut down due to the pandemic. Taking precautions, the filming was postponed for the safety of the actors and the staff. Bloys has also announced that there will be a special COVID-19 episode for the fans. Created by Sam Levinson, the series is an adaptation of an Israeli mini-series with the same name. It was created by Ron Leshem and premiered on 30th November, 2012. The mini-series consisted of 10 episodes. The show was unique as they did not reveal the faces.

The American show starred Zendaya as the lead. She plays the role of Rue Bennett who is a recovering drug addict. She has to adjust herself to the world while struggling with her own issues. The plot revolves around a group of high school students. As a teenager, they encounter themselves with drugs and sex. The series portrays friendship, love, and trauma that teenagers go through in their life due to no proper guidance.
The first season was released on 16th June, 2019 and consisted of eight episodes. After season 1, the series received a lot of positive critics and appreciation for its cinematography. It was nominated for the British Academy Television Awards and TCA Awards for its outstanding achievements. Zendaya ended up winning the Emmy Award and Satellite Award for the category of Best Actress in a series. Season 1 ended with Rue and Jules leaving the town but Rue changes the plan at the last minute. Jules ends up taking the train and Rue who was trying to fight her drug addiction snorts drugs and starts getting hallucinations.

The show stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, and many other talented actors. The series has touched the topics of matter which exist in the society but no one talks about it. The show has also been criticized for too much of unrequired nudity and sexual content. In 2017, the project was announced and Sam Levinson came forward as the screenwriter. Levinson mentioned that as a teenager he went through drug addiction and depression himself. He said anxiety is very common in today’s generation and he wanted to show the reality. On 11th July, 2019 renewal of season 2 was announced. Though fans had to wait for two years since the first season, Bloys has said that he will make sure that the season is worth the wait. Fans cannot wait to see Zendaya’s spectacular performance once again as the series returns on Disney+Hotstar.
