‘Tenet’ is a rambling sci-fi drama with John David Washington as the protagonist. Although the movie has not released on the international market completely, the responses of the audience and critics until now are amazing. Warner Bros. announced that the movie will not be released in the US as the majority of the cinemas are shut down in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 20% of the theatres and cinemas are open. Not delaying the strategy anymore and coming up with the new one, they went on to release the movie in 70 countries before the United States.
In the movie, the protagonist is given a significant task where he has to make strategies to save humanity from Armageddon. Armageddon is a radioactive element that appears to be a threat leading to World War 3. ‘Tenet’ is said to be the finest work of the rare beast Christopher Nolan who also gave the world cinema ‘Inception’. ‘Inception’ was a mixture of science and heist with mysteries added which kept the audience engaged. Critics were expecting ‘Tenet’ to save the world cinema and will stream on OTT platforms wondering who will get an upper hand to the release of the movie.
How is the response to the film?
The film had a budget of $200 million and is designed to be watched on a big screen. It gives an amazing visual experience to the person watching. Nolan has given us ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Inception’, which are called fiction more than science, but ‘Tenet’ is different. The name of the movie refers to the ethical codes of conduct. John David unintentionally enters the tenets of the secret society.
The timeline keeps on changing which is expected by a Nolan movie as his movies ask the audience to think simultaneously. Nolan is challenging the way audience perceives time and his preconceptions. The critics say that the plot is predictable as it gives a James Bond Vibe.
Christopher Nolan has stated that he has been working for over 20 years behind the ideas for ‘Tenet’. He spent about 7 years working over the script. He did not want the film only according to his point of view for the spy genre. So, he did a lot of research as the script was read thousand + times front and back. Nolan is known for his exceptional stories and directing with his movies grossing more than $4.7 billion globally. He was nominated for 34 Oscar Awards winning ten of them.
His movies are inspired by science, mathematics, time, memory, and personal identity. ‘Insomnia’, ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, ‘The Prestige’, ‘Inception’, ‘Interstellar’, and ‘Dunkirk’ are some of his finest works.
