Shonda Rhimes Bridgerton seems to be quite ahead of its time. The show is set to debut on Netflix and news of its second season in out in the market. Bridgerton is an upcoming American period romance television drama created by Chris Van Dusen. Shonda Rhimes is producing the show, and it will be available to stream on the streaming giant, Netflix. The show is premiering on Christmas Day, 2020. However, besides, the premiere of season 1, updates about the filming for season 2 was in the news for a long time.
Apparently, the production for season 2 was to begin in Summer 2020. However, as we know, like the other Netflix shows, production for the second season was also put on a halt. And, according to rumors, the schedule is now set for early 2021.

Season 2, Happening? Release Date
It’s quite rare to discuss another season when its former is not even released yet. However, things are different with Bridgerton. The show will be the result of Shonda Rhimes deal with Netflix. Rhimes is known for Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder is known for creating intense drama, and of course, long-period shows. So, it’s not surprising that Bridgerton will have many seasons too.
Rhimes earlier had a deal with ABC, and now, it’s her second deal but with Netflix. It is also considered the most expensive deal ever made in Netflix’s history.
The news for Bridgerton season 2 goes back to February 2020, then it was decided that the filming will begin in July 2020. But, due to the pandemic, it didn’t. However, it’s now reported that the filming date is now pushed to March 2021. It won’t be a surprise for Bridgerton to have many seasons, as the show is based on stories from 8 books.
There is no official confirmation and news from Netflix and Shondaland about season 2. However, according to ProductionWeekly, the second season is renewed. Also, a filming location is listed under the section, which is Uxbridge.
Bridgerton: Plot and Cast
Before we get too excited about season 2, the public still has a complete season 1 to witness. Bridgerton is supposedly a collab between Downton Abbey and The Crown, which makes it more appealing. And, we know we are definitely in for it. The series is based on Julia Quinn’s novels which tell the story of the competitive world of Regency London high society.
Julie Andrews (Princess Diaries, Sound Of Music) will give her voice to the main character, Lady Whistledown. Moreover, Adjoa Andoh will play Lady Danbury; Lorraine Ashbourne as Mrs. Varley; Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton; Ruby Barker as Marina Thompson; Sabrina Bartlett as Siena Rosso; Harriet Cains as Philippa Featherington; Bessie Carter as Prudence Featherington; Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington; Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton; and Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton.
