Actor Andrew Lincoln who is infamously known for playing Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead looks back to his time when he was part of the show. Sadly, the actor left the show in 2018 making his fans sad. But, he did it so he can spend some more time with his family. However, now after 2 years, he is talking about him quitting the show. Also, he joked about it and said how it was a “terrible decision.” Andrew Lincoln played the main protagonist on The Walking Dead for 8 years before saying goodbye in November 2018.
In April 2010, Lincoln was cast as Rick Grimes to play the protagonist of AMC’s live-action new horror comic book adaptation, The Walking Dead. In 2010, he signed the contract to be a part of the show for six years. But, later he further expanded the deal by 2 years. He played the role for nine seasons and eventually left Georgia to spend time with his kids.
Grimes is a sheriff who wakes up from a coma while the outer world is suffering from a zombie apocalypse. The apocalypse is caused by an unknown infectious agent. His character was loved by many positively. And the fans were heartbroken when Lincoln announced his exit.
Recently the cast of TWD reunited for a fundraiser event where Lincoln was present as well. The actor there joked about the decision he made 2 years ago.
Lincoln’s Exit From TWD
The virtual fundraiser event took place on December 20th. There the cast of The Walking Dead appeared for a great cause.
He began by telling how he didn’t know what the South (Georgia) was. “I’d never been to the South. And then I went to Georgia, and I fell in love with this extraordinary city, Atlanta.” Lincoln also said that living and working in the South was extraordinary.
He also mentioned that there is a sort of English attitude about the South. And that the people there are patronizing at the dinner parties. Lincoln said that he remembers that it was the most advanced, civilized, and extraordinary progressive place he has ever been to.
He further joked that his ten-year-old son, Arthur won’t let him take any job unless it is in Georgia. Lincoln says Arthur wants to go back to Georgia. Lincoln also said that he came back home for the kids and, now they are sick of him. “I wish I’d never left. It’s bullshit! It was a terrible decision! [laughs],” he said in the end.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, and Lennie James were also present at the reunion.
